Summer
A circular trail that follows the green and rocky shoreline covered in local low-lying vegetation from town. Expect vast ocean vistas and enormous icebergs.
After meeting outside Hotel Icefjord we will walk through the outskirts of town to the power station. From there the trail takes you onto the mountainside, the walking isn’t too difficult but good hiking footwear is required. We will pass a reconstruction of a pre-colonial Inuit turf house which will give you an insight into how Greenlanders lived before Europeans arrived. Then we’ll come up the hill where we will be able to see the enormous icebergs trapped on the glacial moraine. A couple of minutes walk will take us to the old cemetery. Greenlandic custom is that every cemetery has to have a good view and this one is no different, looking over the fleeting summer landscape to the icebergs beyond it’s beautiful. Then, it’s a quick walk to the icefjord centre and the end of the tour.

A circular trail that follows the frozen shoreline from town. Expect vast ocean vistas and enormous icebergs.
After meeting outside Hotel Icefjord we will walk through the outskirts of town to the power station. From there the trail takes you onto the snowy mountainside, the walking isn’t too difficult but good winter footwear is required in case of deep snow!
